Job Title: Assistant to Pastor Scott Erickson [ judy.orr@peopleschurch.com ] [ 503.304.4000 ] Hometown: Salem for the past 8 years, but we lived in Minnesota prior to that. Family Info: Husband Dan, daughter & son-in-law Kelly & Matt Austin, son Kyle Orr, and granddaughter Emily. How did you come to PC? We moved here from Minnesota in August, 1998, and the house we rented was just 3 blocks from Peoples Church. I applied for a job in the church office, and was hired in October, 1998. What is the best thing about your role at PC? I love the diversity of opportunities available to me. Each day when I come to the church office, I never know what might come up or what fun or challenging opportunities might present themselves. Also, I work alongside the best people I’ve ever met. Each person has blessed my life in so many ways. I truly have the best job there could be – working with fantastic people and doing a wide variety of things each day. What is something few people know about you? Few people know that I swam with the Manatees in Crystal Springs, Florida. What do you do on your free time? When I have free time, I read. My favorite pastime is to cuddle up with my quilt (made by the Peoples Church quilt ladies) in my recliner and read a good book. Favorite Saying My favorite saying is “A place for everything, and everything in its place.” My grandmother said this to me many times when I was young, and when I took it to heart, my life became much easier. Favorite Book My favorite devotional book is Oswald Chambers’ “My Utmost For His Highest.” My favorite trivia book is “The Bathroom Reader” (don’t laugh – it’s very educational!). My favorite fictional reading book is “Little Women.” And my all-time favorite inspirational book would be the Bible, specifically Hebrews and 1 & 2 Corinthians . . . and also the Psalms. I have read through the Bible, journaled my way verse-by-verse through the Bible, prayed through the Bible, studied many topics in the Bible, and I still find something new every day when I open its pages. Favorite Movie My all-time favorite movie is the Disney film “Snowball Express.” If you haven’t seen it – it’s a must! I also enjoyed the musical “Oklahoma” very much. Favorite Music I love piano music, especially when played by my husband. Favorite Food Pizza . . . but a good steak is also in the running. |
