Counseling FAQ

- Who will I be speaking with?
- What should I expect?
- What does it cost?

Q: Who will I be speaking with?
A: Our director and lead counselor is Pastor Sam Miller. Pastor Sam is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. He earned an M.A. in Counseling and has been active in counseling and as a pastor for over 25 years.
Other "lay-counselors" are being added to the counseling team as God directs.

Q: What should I expect?
A: Since the Shepherd's Staff is designed for those who are serious about taking steps toward improvement, you should expect the following.

Specific assignments will be made which are to be carried out between visits. These could include both specific "Action Steps" and specific reading or writing assignments.

You should expect to be held accountable for the tasks that you have been asked to complete. Your willingness to "work" will testify as to your commitment to solving the situation that brings you to the Shepherd's Staff.

Q: What does it cost?
A:The Shepherd's Staff is first of all a ministry of Peoples Church of Salem, Oregon. We would never withhold ministry from anyone who desires it. On the other hand, there are expenses involved in making such a ministry available, and so we provide a sliding fee schedule for our counseling services. Checks should be made payable to Peoples Church and handed to the receptionist upon your arrival.
