Salem’s own Christian Singles Inc. (CSI: 2.4) is making a big statement about the concern they have for folks in the Northwest and around the world. In just a day or two CSI: 2.4 will be sending gift boxes to several of our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. “We are committed to making a statement to our troops that they are remembered and appreciated” said Pastor Sam Miller, leader of CSI: 2.4. “There are military personnel from many area churches and local neighborhoods who deserve every bit of support we can give them both now and once they return. This sending of gift boxes is just a small way of saying we are with you.” he concluded.
A contingency of Single Adults from CSI: 2.4 also recently participated in one of the Habitat for Humanity homes being built in South Salem. “One of our goals is to make a difference in local arenas as well as around the world”, Miller added.
In September a group of Single Adults will be traveling to a very impoverished area in Jamaica to offer encouragement and support to children in local schools, orphanages and hospitals. This trip will be led by Pastor Sam in conjunction with an organization named ILoveJamaica.org. This organization has an established base in Jamaica along with a 24 hour a day radio broadcast. The CSI: 2.4 team will be on the radio each day while ministering on the island.
In addition to ministry projects CSI: 2.4 provides numerous opportunities for Single Adults to gather. There are groups meeting at homes weekly as well as numerous “big” events involving the entire CSI community.
CSI: 2.4 “A family of Single Adult friends” meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday evenings of each month in the Living Room of Peoples Church,. 4500 Lancaster Drive, in Salem. Their meetings begin at 7:00 PM and conclude 90 minutes later followed by dessert, coffee, and great conversation. For more information about CSI: 2.4 interested people may call 503 304 4000 and ask for Pastor Sam or visit csisingles.net
Currently there is a group of about 45-55 Single Adults meeting at Peoples Church each Sunday Morning at 10:00 in room 211. We enjoy coffee, chatter, group discussion and conversations about issues of interest to Single Adults. Over the past weeks we have been looking at what our relationship with God and relationships with other Single Adults should look like.
On Sunday morning August 5 I will be talking about something that is very important to me personally. For years I have been involved in pre-marital counseling as well as marriage counseling. Over and again I have heard heart wrenching stories of relationships gone-wrong. Many of the marriages I have tried to help salvage, frankly, should not ever have taken place. I am convinced that many couples rush into relationships before they are whole personally,or, once a relationships is begun they move at lightening speed and often the results are less than what anyone wanted.
This Sunday I am going to share my heart with the class and propose a natural course of relationship development and even a time line. If you are unable to attend but would like notes from the class let me know. PS
With the advent of CSI: 2.4 I have felt a need to clarify just what we are attempting to do. The coming launch of CSI: 2.4 will signal a new opportunity for Single Adults to meet one another, worship together, hear the Word of God specifically applied to where they are living and form friendships with other Single Adults in a safe, friendly environment. The Thursday gatherings are intended for an ever growing family of friends from across our region. You do not need to be a member or attender of Peoples Church to have a part, (leadership or otherwise) in CSI: 2.4. Anyone who would like to come is invited. We believe there is a huge population of “Churched” and “unchurched” Single Adults who would welcome an opportunity such as we will be provided and we offer a warm welcome to all who stop by. The CSI: 2.4 group will begin meeting on September 13th and will meet the 2nd and 4th Thursday evenings of each month. If you have ideas, suggestions or questions please let me hear form you. PS
